Описание[1]
Стебло: единично, сферично до ниско-цилиндрично, 9-24 см диаметър и до 30 (-80) см височина, тъмно-зелено
Ребра: 12-18, рядко повече от 13 (при F. alamosanus ssp. alamosanus са около 20), дълбоки
Радиални бодли: (6-) 7-9 (-11), 3-4 см дълги, прави, светло-жълти
Централни бодли: 1, 3-8 мм дълъг, прав, жълт
Цветове: 2-3 см широки и 2-3 см дълги, жълто-оранжеви
Отглеждане:
Относително лесни за отглеждане кактуси. Младите растения се садят в по-богат на хумус субстрат, при по-големите трябва да е по-слаб. В него да не присъства варовик. Саксията трябва да е с такъв размер, че кореновата система на кактуса да може да обхване целия обем от почва. Цъфтят при достигане на диаметър 15-18 см. Поливат се по-рядко, но обилно. Нуждаят се от най-силното слънце и свеж въздух, който може да се осигури, но на пролет леко засенчване в началото, защото този кактус лесно получава слънчеви изгаряния. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 8 - 12 °C. Издържат на краткотрайни застудявания до - 10° C.
Размножаване: От семена
Болести: Издържливи растения. Но трябва да се внимава за червени акари. Възрастните екземпляри често хвърлят корените си, обикновенно зимата
