Разпространение
Tephrocactus aoracanthus е разпространен в Аржентина на 400-2000 метра надморска височина. Първото му описание е като Opuntia aoracantha през 1838г. от Charles Lemaire . През 1868г. Lemaire я поставя в рода Tephrocactus.
