Описание

Стебло: Единично, сферично до плоско-сферично, 8-12 см диаметър и 8 см височина, светлозелено до тъмнозелено, рядко сиво-зелено

Ребра: като за типа - разделени на ясноизразени мамили, спираловидно разположени.

Радиални бодли: 6-8 (-11), 15-60 (-80) мм дълги, масивни, остри, жълти или карминено-червени.

Централни бодли: 1 (-3), често липсва

Цветове: по-малки от типовите, до 6 см широки и 4,5 см дълги, много бледо-розови

Отглеждане:

Не толко лесни за отглеждане растения, сравнително бавнорастящи. Цъфтят към осмата си година при подходящо отглеждане. Често залагат пъпките си от предишния сезон. Нуждаят се от богат на хумус субстрат, по-дълбоки саксии (правят ряпа). Поливат се по-рядко, в никакъв случай обилно. Нуждаят се от директно слънце, за да запазят компактен вид, характерен цвят и дълги бодли. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 3 - 15 °C. Издържат на краткотрайни застудявания до - 10° C.

Размножаване: От семена, изключително рядко от издънки .

Болести: Рядко страдат от фузариум и други гъбични болести. Често губят корените си.
