Описание[1]
Стебло: Единично или на туфа, сферично до ниско-цилиндрично, до 18 см диаметър и до 30 см височина, синьо-зелено до сиво-зелено
Мамили: конични, с размери 35х50 мм, вълнести към върха
Радиални бодли: 9-13; долните 4-5 са подобни на централните, прави или завити, тънки, тъмни до черни; горните 5-8 са по-къси (до 2 см), по-дебели, белезникави, по-тъмни към върха
Централни бодли: 1, с дължина 2-4 см, дебел до 1 мм, прав, леко завит, тъмен до черен
Цветове: до 6 см широки, жълти до розово-червени
Отглеждане:
Бавно растящи, непретенциозни към почвен субстрат растения. Поливат се рядко, пестеливо. Цъфтят след десетата си година. Нуждаят се от директно слънце за да запазят компактен вид и гъсти бодли. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 3 - 12 °C. Издържат на краткотрайни застудявания до - 10° C.
Размножаване: От семена или издънки.
Болести: Сравнително издържливи растения.
