Описание

Стебло: Единично, цилиндрично, 8-10 см диаметър и 12-15 см височина, светлозелено до тъмнозелено

Ребра: 8, разделени на мамили с височина до 10 мм, спираловидно разположени.

Радиални бодли: 6-10, лъчисто разположени.

Централни бодли: 1-4, 1-2 (-5) см, сиви до кафеникави

Цветове: до 6 см широки и 4 см дълги, жълти или пурпурни

Отглеждане:

Лесни за отглеждане растения. Цъфтят трудно, не по-рано от осмата си година при подходящо отглеждане. Нуждаят се от богат на хумус субстрат. Поливат се по-рядко, но обилно. Нуждаят се от директно слънце, за да не се издължат. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 3 - 15 °C. Издържат на краткотрайни застудявания до - 10° C.

Размножаване: От семена и издънки .

Болести: Рядко страдат от фузариум и други гъбични болести. Трудно губят корените си.
