Описание

Стебло: Единично, плоско-сферично до сферично, 10-14 см диаметър и височина, тревнозелено

Ребра: необособени, мамилите са издължени до 2,5 см.

Радиални бодли: 7 (-12) бр, 1,4-1,7 см дълги, бяло-жълтеникави, в основата си червено-кафеникави.

Централни бодли: 3-4 (-7), 1,5-3,5 см (в редки случаи до 7,5 см), червено-кафяви до сиви, стърчащи

Цветове: до 8 см широки и до 5 см дълги, пурпурно-розови

Отглеждане:

Сравнително лесни за отглеждане растения. Цъфтят цяло лято, започвайки от десетата си година при подходящо отглеждане. Нуждаят се от богат на хумус субстрат и малко по-широки от самото растение саксии. Поливат се по-рядко, но обилно. Нуждаят се от директно слънце, за да запазят компактен вид и дълги бодли. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 3 - 15 °C. Издържат на краткотрайни застудявания до - 5° C.

Размножаване: От семена или издънки при по-възрастни растения.
