Мексико (Баха Калифорния Сур). Замества [[Ferocactus peninsulae]] между ~ 26° СШ и Кабо Сан Лукас, както и на редица острови в района на полуострова. Среща се от 100 да 400 m надм. вис., по скалисти склонове.

== Отглеждане ==
Непретенциозни за отглеждане кактуси, но бавно растящи. Младите растения (< 15 cm) се садят в по-богата на хумус почвена смес и се пресаждат ежегодно. При по-големите (> 15 cm) пресаждането е на 2 до 3 години и почвената смес не е толкова богата. В сместа не трябва да има варовик. Саксията трябва да е с размер малко по-голям от кореновата система. Цъфтят при достигане на диаметър 20 - 25 cm. Поливат се по-рядко, но обилно. Нуждаят се от силно слънце и свеж въздух. През зимата се държат напълно сухи при температури 5 - 15 °C.
